Downtown Station Area Specific Plan Update –
Preservation Districts

In 2007, Santa Rosa’s City Council adopted the Downtown Station Area Specific Plan, which as part of its 20-year vision, included development of more than 3,400 new downtown residential units and nearly 500,000 square feet of non-residential development.  Presently, midway through the planning period, the City’s vision for a vibrant, transit-oriented downtown has fallen short.  In response, the City of Santa Rosa has initiated an update to the Specific Plan which will analyze and make recommendations to land use policy, infrastructure needs, connectivity, neighborhood compatibility, and urban form, with the objective of encouraging and supporting residential, commercial, and civic development downtown. 

The plan update has the potential to affect the City’s historic preservation districts that are within or adjacent to the downtown planning area.  At 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2019, the City will host a neighborhood meeting at the DeTurk Round Barn, 819 Donahue Street.  The purpose of the meeting will be to introduce the Specific Plan update and gather feedback from residents of the West End, Cherry Street, St. Rose, Olive Street, and Ridgway Preservation Districts.  City staff will be present to answer questions about the plan update process and to record comments and considerations from the community.
